Jaisalmer district collector Kailash Chand Meena to adopt 8-year-old orphan

Positive news from Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district in which Collector Kailash Meena adopt a 8 year old orphan girl on friday night after hearing the grievances of villagers at Atal Seva Kendra, Mandai during night chaupal, under “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” campaign and asked villagers to celebrate birth of girls and plant 10 saplings of ‘neem’ in the name of ‘Kanya Upvan.’ He added that under the ‘Green Jaisalmer’ campaign villagers should plant one tree outside their house and take care of it. He said if trees are planted by July 10 then he will come to the villager’s home and drink a cup of tea with the family.

At one moment, he became emotional when he came to know the plight of an eight-year-old girl who was facing problems in her upbringing due to her parents’ death. He announced to adopt the girl and bear all her expenses (including education) till she attains the age of 18.

He took a feedback about drinking water, power supply and other services in villages and provided support to every villager on planting trees, he added that this scheme is provided to make Jaisalmer greener and promote a healthy thinking of planting trees to the people.

During visit to Mandai,  Sarpanch Kamal Singh said the collector was listening to people’s grievances when he asked whether there is any helpless girl and villagers told them about the daughter of one Deenaram. Her parents were no more. Meena, showing sensitiveness in the issue announced to adopt the girl and bear the responsibility of her upbringing.He said that (late) Deenaram, father of Deepika (8) died three years ago and after some time her mother Kavita too died.

Residents of Rawdi Chak apprised him about the problem of drinking water and he approved tube wells in the village in 10-15 days. During night chaupal the sarpanch and villagers said that Sanvtpaar middle school does not have electricity. The collector directed electricity department official to give power connection by July 10.

Zila pramukh, Anjana Meghwal said to the villagers  that that in the second phase of Deendayal Upadhyay Scheme electrification would be done and they should pay attention towards girl’s education .
